Christmas Beetle

Australian Museum App Promotion

Problem:

The Australian Museum needed a motion graphics video to promote Christmas Beetle data contribution from adults and older children. The challenge was to capture people’s attention, communicate a niche scientific topic and get them to download an app.

Insight:
To make the video stand out in a crowded social media environment, I drew inspiration from vintage matchbox art, creating a distinct visual language with bold line work and bright colours. The Christmas beetle was personified as a boastful, larger-than-life character, using humour and exaggerated confidence to entertain and educate simultaneously.

Solution:
By combining humour, eye-catching visuals, and a clear call-to-action, the video aligns with the Australian Museum’s goal to promote the app and raise awareness about the alarming decline of insect species. I designed the video specifically for Instagram Reels,
incorporating fast transitions, punchy visuals, and
a twist ending to maximise engagement and create a sense of loss, instilling a sense of urgency in the audience.

Magpie Graphics

PINE GAP  Single Launch

I worked with Naarm-based punk band Magpie on their visual identity for the rollout of their single 'Pinegap'. This included creating visuals for the album art and animating a digital event poster. I also provided graphics that they directly used to screen print merchandise, which they still use today. I was determined to create a mascot for them that encapsulated the roughness of their music, while also paying homage to the rural Aussie outback that inspired this single. If you get the chance, I would recommend checking out their chaotic and politically charged music!

Jellyfish – Motion Graphics

Subverting the simple...

Listening to a podcast by Dr Claire Rowe, she described the upside-down Cassiopea jellyfish as being “very slow” and “very simple”. While jellyfish aren’t inherently chaotic, their ability to invade, disrupt environments and animals around them is, especially where I’m from in Australia.

I was inspired to prove her wrong by subverting the simple jellyfish into something more energetic, bright and colourful. I represent this chaotic nature throughout my video by using punk imagery, overstimulating psychedelic visuals and editing to a fast-paced breakcore beat to convey the sudden spread of an invasive species.

Global  Design Sprint

I was selected to represent UTS VisComm in a two-week international design sprint, where I collaborated with medical and design students to identify and solve health issues in Southeast Asia. At the end of the challenge, our team pitched our solution to a panel of internationally renowned doctors and educators, winning a design award.

Tummy Safe

Allergy Education Pack

Pack provided to families by GP after a child’s coeliac diagnosis, helping them transition to a gluten-free lifestyle.

Our research uncovered a critical gap in the timely diagnosis of coeliac disease in children. Despite affecting 0.7% to 2.9% of the global population, coeliac disease often goes undiagnosed (particularly in Southeast Asia) due to limited public awareness and misinterpretation of symptoms. This delay in diagnosis for children can lead to stunted physical development, mental health challenges, and unnecessary strain on already overburdened healthcare systems.

To address this, we developed Gluten-Free Moo-vement, a child-focused coeliac disease awareness campaign. Our outcome was an educational kit distributed post-diagnosis, designed to empower children and their families. The kit includes:

  • A friendly cow mascot keyring to identify and communicate a child’s allergies
  • An information pamphlet tailored to parents
  • Pantry stickers to mark gluten-free items and establish food safety zones
  • A visual memory card game that teaches children which foods are gluten-free, encouraging collaborative learning with families, teachers, and peers

This solution reframes children not as passive recipients of care but as confident self-advocates who can drive cultural change through playful, accessible education.
