Global  Design Sprint

I was selected to represent UTS VisComm in a two-week international design sprint, where I collaborated with medical and design students to identify and solve health issues in Southeast Asia. At the end of the challenge, our team pitched our solution to a panel of internationally renowned doctors and educators, winning a design award.

Tummy Safe

Allergy Education Pack

Pack provided to families by GP after a child’s coeliac diagnosis, helping them transition to a gluten-free lifestyle.

Our research uncovered a critical gap in the timely diagnosis of coeliac disease in children. Despite affecting 0.7% to 2.9% of the global population, coeliac disease often goes undiagnosed (particularly in Southeast Asia) due to limited public awareness and misinterpretation of symptoms. This delay in diagnosis for children can lead to stunted physical development, mental health challenges, and unnecessary strain on already overburdened healthcare systems.

To address this, we developed Gluten-Free Moo-vement, a child-focused coeliac disease awareness campaign. Our outcome was an educational kit distributed post-diagnosis, designed to empower children and their families. The kit includes:

  • A friendly cow mascot keyring to identify and communicate a child’s allergies
  • An information pamphlet tailored to parents
  • Pantry stickers to mark gluten-free items and establish food safety zones
  • A visual memory card game that teaches children which foods are gluten-free, encouraging collaborative learning with families, teachers, and peers

This solution reframes children not as passive recipients of care but as confident self-advocates who can drive cultural change through playful, accessible education.
